What’s Inside the Seed Paper?
Each seed-paper heart and butterfly contains a carefully selected blend of US-origin wildflower seeds, including:
Snapdragon (Annual)
Petunia (Annual)
Beardtongue (Perennial)
Poppy (Annual)
Mountain Mint (Perennial)
Chamomile (Perennial)
These flowers are designed to thrive in various growing regions across the United States, helping to beautify outdoor spaces while attracting bees, butterflies, and other essential pollinators.
How to Plant Your Seed Paper
Planting your seed-paper hearts and butterflies is easy! Here’s how to get started:
1. Choose a Location
These wildflowers grow best with at least 4 hours of direct sunlight per day.
You can plant them outdoors in a garden or flowerbed, or indoors in a pot by a sunny window.
2. Prepare the Soil
If planting in a pot, fill it with good-quality potting soil.
If planting in the ground, loosen the soil to ensure good contact with the seed paper.
3. Plant the Paper
Tear the seed paper into smaller pieces if desired, or plant it whole.
Place the paper just beneath the soil surface (about 1/8 inch deep).
Lightly press it down to ensure the seeds make contact with the soil.
4. Water Gently
Keep the soil moist but not soaked to help the seeds germinate.
Continue watering regularly, especially in the first few weeks.
5. Watch Your Flowers Grow!
Germination can begin in as little as one week but may take up to six weeks depending on your region and conditions.
As the flowers bloom, they’ll provide nectar and habitat for pollinators like bees and butterflies, helping to support the ecosystem.
